Coach AB has been coaching for over thirty years. He has coached at every level from beginning age swimmer to Olympic Trials. In USA Swimming he has been an All-Star coach, Zone Coach, served on the board of directors, Coach of the Year and led his team to the LSC championship. Coach AB has also coached Masters swimming for over thirty years. During that time he has coached world ranked masters swimmers, masters world champions and a Masters National Team Championship.
In open water swimming Coach AB’s athletes have excelled at many of the top national open water races including multiple masters national championships and USA Swimming’s 5K National Championship. In triathlon he has coached ITU athletes as well as competitors at USA Triathlon Nationals, World Championships and Iron man World Championships.
As an masters athlete Coach AB has competed at USA Masters Swimming, USA Track and Field and USA Triathlon Nationals.
Coach Mark has been coaching master swimmers for over 25 years in Dallas, Chicago and Santa Barbara. While with Dallas Aquatic Masters, he developed a Swim Basics program to help beginning swimmers and triathletes learn the fundamentals of swimming to help swimmers feel confident moving to an organized swim practice and allowing for improved efficiency and fitness in the water. He also conducted several open water and pool clinics through Dallas Aquatic Masters.
In addition to coaching masters swimmers, Coach Mark is a volunteer assistant coach for the UCSB D1 college swim team, teaches elementary and intermediate swim classes for the UCSB Exercise and Science department and coaches the UCSB satellite team for the Santa Barbara Club.
Coach Mark swam competitively though college and continues to compete in masters competitions. He swam for the University of Iowa where he qualified for Nationals in the 200/400 IM , 200 Back and 200 Breast and made Olympic Trial cuts in the 200 Back. He has won several events at US Masters Nationals and has achieved multiple Age Group Top 10 times.
